About Us

We're John Lawrence and Kristine Berg.  We are Bay Area professional actors with over 25 years experience.  We've performed in theater, film, commercials, television, and print.  We regularly perform in murder mystery dinner shows, and conduct teambuilding workshops utilizing improvisation techniques.

Kristine Berg

Kristine grew up in a family of musicians, actors, puppeteers and story tellers. She started performing as a child and can't imagine her life without the theatre! Kristine began her career with the Palo Alto Children's Theatre and the theatre quickly became her second home. She was fortunate enough to perform with her family’s business, The Puppet Masters, which was founded by her grandfather, Master Puppeteer Hans Schmidt. The family  performed throughout the California Central Valley bringing puppetry and theatre to Migrant workers, educators and the community.

Kristine attended CalArts as a voice major and eventually graduated from Notre Dame de Namur with a B.A. and Master's in Psychology,  as well as a California Teacher's Credential. Kristine was an elementary school teacher for over 25 years, teaching in the Palo Alto Unified School District as well as The French/American School and Chrysalis Preschool. As a classroom teacher, Kristine developed lesson plans for groups of diverse learners with a variety of educational needs and successfully nurtured her students to grow as individual learners utilizing her music and theatre skills along with the general curriculum.

As a professional actress Kristine regularly performs interactive dinner theatre utilizing her improvisational skills,  portrays background in commercial and industrial film, as well as leads workshops teaching and performing in participatory theatre productions in school settings.

Currently, Kristine’s focus is on theatrical workplace workshops through Avanti Theatre Company.  She brings her teachings skills and group dynamic management together to write the curriculum for the workshops aimed at improving team listening, diversity and group cohesion.  Kristine knows how to scale her activities for adults and for corporate-culture so that participants have the level of fun of being a kid while building professional workplace skills together.

John Lawrence

John was born and raised in San Francisco and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Prior to his involvement in theater, he spent 25 years working as a computer consultant, and accountant, in the foodservice, investment, and scientific industries.  In this capacity, John programmed computers, operated help desk/computer support, produced company-wide newsletters, conducted computer training and wrote instruction manuals.

John has been acting for over 25 years, mostly in theater.  He first pursued his interest in theater by writing plays; several of his works have been produced on stage.  After formally studying acting at Cañada College and San Jose State University, John began appearing in Bay Area stage productions. After many years on stage, he began working in interactive murder mystery dinner theater for businesses as well as private parties.  This gave him an opportunity to hone his improvisational skills as well as develop his ability to be flexible and work with a diverse audience. John currently performs in a variety of mystery dinners, feature films, commercials, industrial films, as well as print.

Now John utilizes the skills and experiences he built from his time in the corporate culture and the theatre to launch workshops aimed at corporations to improve their teamwork and to bring a little fun into the workplace. He excels at relating the needs and pressures of being a part of a team in a large corporation to the skills that are vital in improv work and theatre games.  John brings the fun of being an actor and theatre player into the office to the benefit of all!
